Colligo House is a permanent supportive housing project provided for people who are chronically homeless and have mental illness, substance abuse, or HIV/AIDS. The economic and social conditions affecting homeless individuals and families are complex. People typically require job training, reeducation, mental health counseling, substance abuse therapy, or prevention/education to become self-sufficient. Supportive services are designed to assist by linking area resources to obtain maximum benefits for each resident.
This facility allows individuals to remain in an environment that promotes safety, independence, and quality housing. Placement in adequate housing, addressing the specific needs for individuals, and developing a housing plan that will empower people to live independently are the goals for Colligo House residents. Grant monies are received from US Dept. Housing and Urban Development, West Virginia Housing Development Fund, United Way, Community Development Block Grants and generous contributions from public supporters make this project possible.
