The Caritas House prevention educators travel throughout northern West Virginia to educate communities about HIV/AIDS. Education is the most important key in reducing the number of cases of HIV/AIDS in West Virginia and a valuable asset to increase awareness and help prevent the spread of HIV.

The prevention educators make presentations to many groups/schools through out Caritas House's twenty five county service area. Caritas House utilizes technology and interactive presentations to make a memorable learning experience. Presentations include:

HIV/AIDS 101-Basics of how the virus is transmitted, prevention and risk reduction methods, importance of testing and early diagnosis, and reduces stereotypes of the disease.  General presentation for all groups or people.

HIV/STD's for Teens-Specifically targeted to teenagers.  Presents statistics of teen infections and demonstrates HIV is not merely a "adult concern".  Stresses the importance of safer sex practices and proper use of condoms.

HIV/AIDS AND THE CHURCH RESPONSE- Specific to church congregations, pastors, and youth groups.  Designed to reduce stigma and preconceived ideas of the disease.  Encourages and gives examples for outreach and ministry by the church.

AGE IS NO BARRIER- Persons over the age of 50 face unique risks and challenges with HIV.  This presentation is designed to educate and inform them of both medical and social risk factors.

"FACES OF AIDS" where people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS relay their personal experiences to the audience.

INTERACTIVE GAMES- Sex Jeopardy, Condom Bingo, Caritas Squares, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader, POZ or NOT POZ.  All games are designed to reinforce information from our presentations or can be given seperately.

Presentations can be combined and accommodate time constraints to suit your needs. To arrange for a prevention educator to visit your group or organization, please contact:
